The Race to End Domestic Abuse, hosted by Womancare, is “always held on the first Saturday of October,” wrote Cindy Freeman Cyr of the 13th annual Womancare 5-K River Run and Family Walk that begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Piscataquis Community Middle School in Guilford.

And, Cyr reminds readers, “the ever-popular community breakfast” begins at the same time at the same place.

For $5 each, or $12 for a family, you can start your day dining with friends and neighbors.

“Even those who may not run or walk can enjoy pancakes, eggs, bacon and more,” Cyr wrote.

Walkers and runners, however, are urged to seek pledges for this event, which “begins our observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.”

“Please come out and walk with us,” Cyr added.

For pledge sheets and race registration information, visit www.wmncare.org or call Womancare at 564-8165.

Proceeds benefit this community organization working to end domestic violence.
