CARIBOU – Lorraine D. Martin, 87, wife of the late Nelson Martin, died Oct. 1, 2009, in Van Buren. She was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Van Buren, the daughter of Denis and Sophie (Soucie) Martin. Lorraine was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was also a member of Ladies of St. Anne. She is survived by her children, James Martin of Wolcott, Conn., Robertine Violette of Van Buren, Dennis Martin of Escondido, Calif., Robert Martin of New Hampton, N.H., Albert Martin of Bristol, Conn., Frank “Conrad” Martin of Waterburry, Conn., Rosanna Gendreau of Venice, Fla., and Sharon Martin of Windsor, Mo.; two brothers, Fred Martin and Richard Martin, both of Bath, N.Y.; three sisters, Germaine Allard and Lillian St. Pierre, both of Bath, N.Y., and Rita Murphy of Caribou; 29 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Narcisse “Nelson” Martin; and two sons, John and Gailen Martin. Friends may visit with the family 8:30 a.m. until time of services Monday, Oct. 5, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, pastor, officiating in a Mass of Christian burial.
