GRAND ISLE – Jeannette Chasse, 85, died Oct. 5, 2009, at a Madawaska health facility. She was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, daughter of Hilaire and Annie Albert. She was a member of Ladies of St. Anne. Jeannette was a wonderful cook, always making sure there were fresh made goodies for her children when they arrived from school. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, making blankets for all her grandchildren and older great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening with her husband of 62 1/2 years, and preserving their crop for the winter months. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Raoul L. Chasse; six children, Patrick and Marilyn of Madawaska, Marlene and Gerald Long of Plantsville, Conn., Raymond and Jackie of Edmundston, New Brunswick, Robert and Betty of Grand Isle, Louise of Madawaska and Leo of Grand Isle; nine grandchildren, Paul, Margaret, Christopher, David, Susan, Nathalie, Eric, Nicole and Jason; 10 great-grandchildren, Brenton, Dustin, Jolene, Nikalas, Daniel, Christopher, Nicole, Noemie, Meghan and Krystine; three sisters, Alberte Beaulieu, Lorrine Landry, both of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Rachel Desjardins of St. Jacques, New Brunswick; two brothers, Calixte, and Rino and Lucille Albert, both of Edmundston, New Brunswick; and three sisters-in-law, Cecile Albert, Lorraine Cyr and Dolores Dugal. She was predeceased by her parents; great-granddaughters, Michelle and Cassandra; a half brother, Michel Rossignol; sisters, Bibianne Grodin, Irene Poulin, Isabel Watson and Aline Michaud; and brothers, Philip, Alban, Carl and Rosaire. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at St. Gerard – Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. James Albert officiating. For those who desire donations may be made to Edgar Paradis Cancer Fund, St. Gerard – Mount Carmel Memorial Fund or a charity of your choosing.
