FORT FAIRFIELD – Marjorie A. Bricknell, 86, wife of the late Carlton A. Bricknell, passed away Tuesday morning, Oct. 6, 2009, at a Caribou nursing facility, after a brief illness. She was born June 17, 1923, in Brockton, Mass., the daughter of Vespucio and Mary (Goff) Gennaco. She was a graduate of the Brockton, Mass., school system and furthered her education at Cambridge (Mass.) School of Nursing. She married Carlton A. Bricknell, April 25, 1944, and had been employed by several area businesses, most notably, C.J. Lynch Hardware, Fort Fairfield, where she worked as a buyer, cashier and assisted in the company gift shop. She was a faithful communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield; and was past president of the following organizations: Fort Fairfield Philomathian Club, Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital Guild and Fort Fairfield VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 Ladies Auxiliary for six terms. She also was a member of Daughters of Isabella, Santa Maria Circle, No. 427, Fort Fairfield; a Girl Scout den mother; and volunteered with the local RSVP, for whom she knitted children’s garments. Marge was an avid bridge player, enjoyed ceramics and was named Fort Fairfield Citizen of the Year. In addition to her parents, Marge was predeceased by her husband, Carlton, Jan. 15, 2005; and one brother, Robert Genacco. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. LeVasseur of Saco; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie, celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the funeral Mass at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
