FORT KENT – Edwin R. Corriveau, 84, died peacefully Oct. 9, 2009, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born Nov. 17, 1924, in Fort Kent, the son of Joseph and Marie Ann (Cyr) Corriveau. Edwin was drafted June 9, 1943, into the U.S. Navy before transferring to the U.S. Marines. He was assigned as a hospital corpsman with a medical team. He served in the south Pacific – Guadalcanal Island, Guam and Saipan. Upon his discharge March 14, 1946, Edwin returned to Fort Kent, where he had a career with Etscovitz Chevrolet/Valley Motors Inc. for 42 years as parts manager, retiring in June 1988. Edwin was a charter member and past commander of Fort Kent VFW Lozier O’Grady Post No. 9609, where he also served as chaplain for many military funerals; a member of American Legion Martin-Klein Post No. 0133, fourth degree Knights of Columbus council No. 0352 and officer of L’Union St. Jean Baptiste. A few of Edwin’s favorite pastimes were gardening, painting landscapes and restoring religious statues. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Laura Mae (Daigle) Corriveau of Fort Kent; one son, David and his wife, Patty Corriveau, of Caribou; four daughters, Lena Corriveau of Fort Kent, Judy Bouchard of Webster, N.H., Elaine and her husband, David Guimond, of Fort Kent and Louise and her husband, Douglas Guerrette, of Hampden; 12 grandchildren, Meagan, Stephanie, Casandra, Smyth, Cory, Faith, Myles, Kristopher, Amelia, Bradley, Allison and Taylor; several nieces and nephews. In addition to both his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Irma Poulin and Lucille Chasse; and one brother, Roland Corriveau. Friends may call 8 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full military and fourth degree honors will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent.
