OLD TOWN – Rita Theresa Doucette, 84, died Oct. 8, 2009, at a Falmouth health care facility. She was born March 10, 1925, in Old Town, the daughter of Etienne and Juliette (Lavoie) King. Rita was a member of Holy Family Parish and Senior Citizens Club, Old Town. She also had her own family sewing club. She loved camping and the ocean. She did beautiful handwork with her knitting and crocheting. Rita was a great cook, loved music, had a great sense of humor and was always welcoming to all that knew her. Rita is survived by her three children, Roseanne and her husband, Donald Neal, Dianne and her husband, Edward Leonard, and Paulette and her husband, David Landry. Rita is also survived by one brother, Romeo Roy and his wife, Grace, of Tauton, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Scott, Todd and Jennifer Neal, Wayde, Daniel and Dennis Marshall and Renee Landry; nine great-grandchildren, Devin, Kylie, Bryce, Austin, Trevor, Rylan, Halle, Paige and Graham; many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband, Clifford; and her brother, Philip Roy. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff at Falmouth by the Sea for their exceptional care and compassion to their mother. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at Birmingham Funeral Home, Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Resurrection Parish, Holy Family Church, Old Town, with a luncheon afterward. Burial will be held at a later date. Flowers are welcome or gifts may be made in Rita’s honor to a charity of your choosing.
