STETSON – Earl P. Bridges passed away peacefully Oct. 9, 2009, surrounded by his loving family, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1940, in Dexter, the son of Jackson R. Bridges and Barbara Adams Bridges. Earl was a graduate of Dexter High School. He served with the U.S. Air National Guard until he retired in 1984. He then enjoyed working at WLBZ until 2002. Earl excelled at anything he undertook; weather, astronomy, carpentry, woodworking and electronics. He enjoyed playing and listening to jazz guitar. Earl and his wife, Betty L. (Nelson) Bridges, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 5, 2009. Earl and Betty were blessed with five children and their spouses, Kathlyn and Stewart Jacobs, Kirk Bridges, Kevin and Susan Bridges, Kent Bridges, Kelly and Telley Salley; 10 grandchildren, Taunya, Erin, Phillip, Joshua, Sarah, Rachel, Lydia, Thane, Alex and Kelsey; and one great-grandchild, Abagail. He has two brothers, Stanley and Leroy Bridges; and one sister, Elaine Adzema. Earl was predeceased by his parents, a brother and a sister. At Earl’s request, a private service for immediate family will be held later this fall at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
