FORT KENT – Fernande Marie (Cyr) Berube, 89, died peacefully surround by family Oct. 9, 2009, at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born Jan. 21, 1920, in Frenchville, the daughter of Fortunant and Marie Louise (Marquis) Cyr. Mrs. Berube and her late husband, Victor, were owners of Berube’s General Store, located at Dempsey Curve, Fort Kent. Mrs. Berube also worked for Good Shepherd Shop, Forest Hill Manor and the University of Maine at Fort Kent from time to time. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and working in her flower garden. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Fort Kent and Fort Kent Columbiettes. She was predeceased by her husband, Victor Berube, in 1979. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by nine children, Richard Berube and his wife, Faye, Ernest Berube and his wife, Sandra, all of Fort Kent, Leonard Berube of Scotia, N.Y., Lawrence Berube and his wife, Ann, of St. David, Barbara Michaud and her husband, Benoit, of St. Francois, New Brunswick, Robert Berube and his wife, Anne, of Meriden, Conn., Joyce Daigle and her husband, Albert, of Hudson, Fla., Judith Fitzherbert and her husband, Larry, of Fort Kent, and Susan Berube of Machias; one sister, Dora Frenette of Waterbury, Conn.; 27 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. A committal service will be held at a later date at the parish cemetery.
