BLUE HILL – John Frank Bakeman Sr., 68, died Oct. 12, 2009, at a Boston hospital with his family at his side. He was born July 18, 1941, in Castine, son of John Bakeman Fr. and Irene E. (Babson) Bakeman. John attended schools in Brooksville, graduating from Brooksville High School in 1960. He enjoyed lobstering and hunting. John worked for Doug Gott & Sons for many years and established a close relationship with Doug and his crew. He was a member of Cape Rosier Grange, Ira Berry Lodge No. 128 of Blue Hill and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows lodges of Blue Hill and Brooksville. He is survived by his wife, Carol of Blue Hill; son, John Jr. and wife, Amber, of Cape Rosier; daughter, Lori Dodge and husband, Errol, of Blue Hill; stepdaughter, Ramona Young and husband, Kelvin, of Sedgwick; stepsons, William Cousins and wife, Linda, and Robert Cousins and wife, Teresa, all of Blue Hill; four grandchildren, 14 stepgrandchildren, two great-stepgrandchildren; brother, Richard Bakeman and wife, Doris, of Brooksville; aunts, Katherine Clifford and Dorothy Bakeman, both of Cape Rosier; uncle, Frank Snow of Brooksville; and two nieces. John will be sadly missed by his special feline friend, Tempe. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at Mountain View Cemetery, Blue Hill, with the Rev. Allen Myers officiating.
