GLENBURN – Charles A. Simpson, 65, died unexpectedly Oct. 17, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 23, 1944, in Bangor, the son of Gerald A. and Virginia R. (Pelkey) Simpson. Charlie attended Bangor schools and graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1963. After high school he joined the family business, which became G.A. Simpson & Son, doing carpentry work, then in 1973 they opened the small engine shop on the Pushaw Road. Later his son, Gerald, joined the company and managed the small engine business while he expanded the business into general contracting work. Charlie was an avid hunter and snowmobiler. He was a member of the board of directors for Glenburn Lakeside Riders and past president of Bangor Snowmobile Club. Charlie enjoyed the family summer residence at Pushaw Lake. For more than 30 years he and his brother-in-law, Ron, worked at the Springfield Fair as horse pulling officials. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carol (Dill) Simpson of Glenburn; daughter, Lisa Simpson Zeisler and her children, Jacob and Carlie and their father, Aaron, all of Gray; son, Gerald A. Simpson II and Angela, and his children, Katie and Alex and their mother, Tina, all of Glenburn; a sister, Geri Simpson Staples and her husband, Edmund and their son, Todd, all of Florida. He will be lovingly remembered by Jillian and Michael Mitchell of Glenburn. Special thanks to the many dear friends who are always there to help. Relatives and friends are invited to call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, with the Rev.
