MONTEZUMA, Iowa – Richard “Dick” Ralph Boynton passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa. He was born July 8, 1940, in Eddington, the son of Frank and Madeline Grant Boynton. Dick enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1961. After his honorable discharge from the military in 1965, Dick was united in marriage to Patricia “Pat” Gilchrist in 1966. After 25 years with the Adams Co., Dubuque, Iowa, he retired in 2005. Dick was a member of United Methodist Church, Montezuma, Iowa, and was an active volunteer for Montezuma Food Pantry. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and attending any activities in which his grandchildren were involved. Dick could always find humor in any situation and lived his life to the fullest. His wife, daughters and grandchildren were the most important aspect of Dick’s life. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a dad who taught his daughters they could do anything and a man that was proud to be called “Grandpa.” He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Montezuma, Iowa; two daughters, Kim and Howard Kietzman of Dubuque, Iowa, and Brandy and Brian Boulting of Ankeny, Iowa; four brothers, Donald and Linda Boynton of Eddington, Francis Caruso Jr. of New Hampshire, Robert and Vicki Caruso of Hampden, and Frederick and Susan Caruso of Holden; three sisters, Linda Caruso, Judith and Raymond Turcotte, all of Glenburn, and Suzanne and Chuck Tippin of Tennessee; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Boynton of Glenburn. Richard also leaves behind four grandchildren, Max and Ivy Kietzman, and Olivia and Abigail Boulting. His parents; stepfather, Francis Caruso Sr.; a brother, Gerald Boynton; and one sister, Carol Saunders, predeceased him. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Holland-Cole Funeral Home, Montezuma, Iowa.
