GUILFORD – Robert L. Miles, 83, died Oct. 21, 2009, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born July 8, 1926, in East Millinocket, son of Allan and Lala (Vance) Miles. He served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He worked at several mills in Connecticut and after moving to Maine, he worked as a janitor at Husson College, Bangor. He enjoyed fishing, camping and especially playing his guitar. He is survived by his wife, Roberta (Pratt) Miles of Guilford; two sons and their wives, Richard and Sue Miles of Connecticut, and Robert A. and Brenda Miles of Ohio; a daughter and her husband, Patricia and Blaine Burhoe Jr. of Abbot; a sister, Lala; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford. Graveside services with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at East Millinocket Cemetery.
