FORT FAIRFIELD – Gerald F. Berube Sr., 57, husband of Shirley Berube, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at his residence, after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 4, 1952, in Baker Brook, New Brunswick, son of Joseph E. and Leona (Levesque) Berube. Gerald attended the Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, and Fort Fairfield schools system. He was married to Shirley M. Wakeling, Nov. 24, 1973. He was employed by Columbia Forest Products, Presque Isle, for more than 30 years. Mr. Berube was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shirley Berube; one son, Gerald F. Berube Jr., both of Fort Fairfield; and special aunt, Lucy Bellefleur of Limestone. Gerald will also be fondly remembered by special friends, Gregg and Glenda Spittle of Fort Fairfield. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, with the Rev. Jean-Paul Labrie officiating. Interment will take place at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the interment service.
