BREWER – It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Marion Rosella Wood, 81, on Oct. 24, 2009. Marion lived with Alzheimer’s disease and was a resident at Westgate Manor, Bangor, for the past eight and a half years. She was born in Old Town, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Gallant) Murphy. Marion was employed at Eastern Maine Medical Center in the housekeeping department, retiring in 1990. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially during camping trips and family picnics. She will be sadly missed by her three children and their spouses, Gloria and Timothy McLaughlin, Nathaniel Wood Jr. and Nancy, and Brenda and Stephen Wright; five grandchildren, Todd, Nathaniel, Tammy, Timothy and April; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard and James Murphy, Ray Willette, Nancy Michaud, Cora Young, and Earl and Frank Randall; and sister-in-law and best friend, Annie Wood. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Nathaniel Charles Wood Sr.; and siblings, Robert, Carolyn, Edward and Thomas Murphy and Rose Smith. The family thanks the staff at Westgate Manor for the many years of outstanding care and compassion given to Marion. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Uncle Dickey for his endless support and devotion to his sister and her children. It has been a long and loving journey for Marion and her family. It is the family’s wishes to celebrate her life privately. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
