BURLINGTON – Charlene L. (Hatch) Rideout, wife of the late Virgil Rideout Sr., passed away Oct. 29, 2009, at a Portland hospital. She was born May 23, 1930, in Lowell, the daughter of Charles F. and Dora C. (Tooker) Hatch. Charlene loved her garden and enjoyed watching birds. She loved her family and was completely committed to all of them. She is survived by four children, Virgil Glenn Rideout Jr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Lincoln, Beth L. Rideout and her companion, Craig Bortell, of Burlington, Charles “Chucky” Rideout of Burlington and Thelma Sibley and her husband, Paul, of Windham; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Kate Rideout and her fiance, David Drabik, Kendra Rideout, Virgil Rideout III and his companion, Lauren, Brandy Sibley, Brandon Sibley, Coleman Wakefield and Paul Michael Wakefield; five great-grandchildren, Presley Mae Rideout, Moyer Smith, Kehturah Smith, Hannah Mae Wakefield and Brady Varitek Wakefield; three brothers, Andrew Hatch and his wife, Judy, of Burlington, Bill Walker and his wife, Ginny, of Brewer and Randy Hatch and his wife, Sandra, of Lincoln; two sisters, Anita McKee of Everett, Wash., and Priscilla Shea and her husband, George, of Natick, Mass.; three sisters-in-law, Beryle Rideout, Evelyn Silverwatch and Carol Jean Watson and her husband, Al; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by an infant son, Rory; two sisters, Leila Gordon and Kathy McKinnon; and a brother, Johnny Boy Layte. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Repose Cemetery, Burlington, with the Rev.
