ST. AGATHA – Joseph A. “June” Gervais, 73, passed away Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at a Bangor hospital, after a short courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born July 31, 1936, in St. Agatha, son of Joseph T. and Cecile “Albert” Gervais. He attended St. Agatha schools and was a lifetime member of the community. He was a member of the Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963, American Legion Post 145 and Ste. Agatha Historical Society. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and doing voluntary work for St. Agatha Historical House. June worked for Madawaska Brick & Block and Dragon Products for more than 42 years, retiring in 1998. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria (Plourde) Gervais; two daughters, Merita and her husband, Bill Farquhar, of Hermon, and Susan Cyr of Madawaska; grandchildren, Mya and Jeremy Cyr; two stepgrandchildren, Justin and his wife, Stephanie Farquhar, and Ashley Farquhar; a special brother, Richard and his wife, Rinette Gervais, of St. Agatha; two sisters, Rolande and her husband, Eddie Bilodeau, of Marlborough, Conn., and Lucille Koch of Harvey, La.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. June was predeceased by his parents, Joseph T. and Cecile Gervais; two brothers, Roland and Clifford; and one sister, Theresa. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at St. Agatha Catholic Church with the Rev. Dave Raymond officiating. Burial will be at St. Agatha Lower Cemetery. For those who desire, donations may be made to Edgar Paradis Cancer Fund, St. Agatha Historical House and St. Agatha Library or a charity of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
