BRADLEY – Geraldine D. Shorette, 92, passed away Nov. 3, 2009, surrounded by her family at an Orono health care facility. She was born Dec. 9, 1916, in Old Town, a daughter of Louis and Eva (Martin) LaForge. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley, where she sang in the choir. She was employed for many years at Penobscot Shoe Co., Old Town. Whenever there was anyone sick in the family, “Call Gerry” was all that was needed and she would come right over. She enjoyed cutting hair and giving perms and did not mind the fact that she worked all day in the shoe shop and came home and did hair. Gerry especially enjoyed the time spent with her husband, Sterling, at their camp on Great Works Stream. She will be sadly missed by her son, Gary Shorette and his wife, Pauline, of Bradley; daughter-in-law, Margaret Shorette of Orono; one special sister-in-law, Olive Buck; 10 grandchildren, Amy Shorette and her companion, Melvin Ivey, Jeff Shorette and his wife, Cheryl, Matthew Shorette, Gary Dean Knight, Gina DiProfio and her husband, Dan, Lisa Deon and her husband, Frank, Danny Shina, Paul Cote Jr., Rhonda Stormann and her husband, Allen, and Ronald Cote and his wife, Renee; 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Sterling; a son, Romaine; daughter, Mary Lou Cote; granddaughter, Julie Shorette; and a grandson, Alan Cote. There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Bradley, with the Rev. Thomas Farley, celebrant. Burial will be afterward at Forest Hill Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately after the service at the cemetery, all are invited to Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
