BELFAST – Richard Leon Moore Sr., 69, previously of Milford, Conn., died Nov. 3, 2009, at his residence. He was born Oct. 2, 1940, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., son of George and Wilma (Ranney) Moore. He worked for the Department of Transportation in Connecticut as a machine operator, retiring to Maine with his wife. He enjoyed sailing, gardening, woodworking and whittling. He was a very active member of his congregation, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his father; and a sister, Nancy LeMere. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy Moore; his children, Richard L. Moore Jr., Debra E. Porter, Lori L. Wilcox and Kimberley A. Moody; his mother and stepfather, Wilma Stott and Dick; brother, Alan Moore and wife, Marilyn; brother-in-law, Art LeMere; sister-in-law, Beverly Barnes and husband, Ernest; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as the congregation at Kingdom Hall. Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Kingdom Hall, 353 Belmont Ave., Belfast. A reception will be after at Searsmont Community Center, Route 131. Memorial services will also be held in Connecticut at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
