HAMPDEN – Sally M. Dunphy, 57, passed away Nov. 4, 2009, at her home to help God with his beautiful gardens in heaven. Sally was born Nov. 18, 1951, in Farmington, to the late Carl and Jean (Metcalf) Ellsworth. Sally grew up and attended schools in the Salem and Eustis area. She then married her husband and best friend, Douglas Dunphy, Feb. 22, 1970, and moved to Hampden in 1976 where they raised their three children. Sally was a graduate of the University of Maine where she earned a bachelor’s degree in landscape horticulture. She was a self-employed landscape horticulturist who loved to plant flowers and build beautiful gardens for all to see. In her spare time, Sally enjoyed country music, dancing, watching CSI, reading mystery novels, spending time with her family and crafts of all kinds. She spent hours learning and designing new crafts. One of her family’s favorite designs were her birdhouse centerpieces and creative Easter baskets. Sally will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all. Sally is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Douglas; their three children, Douglas Jr. and wife, Cathy, Dawn, and Chad and fiancee, Amanda; five grandchildren, Matt Bagley, Tamara Bernardo, Brook Bagley, Nate Rackliffe and Gabrielle Dunphy; her siblings, Perry Ellsworth and wife, Sue, Barbara Dunn and her husband, Albert “Bud,” William “Billy” Ellsworth, Elizabeth “Liz” Ellsworth, Irving Ellsworth, Frank Ellsworth, and Debbie Stark and husband, Bill; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary and Pete Henderson, and Trudy and Al Pippin; many nieces and nephews. Sally was predeceased by both of her parents. Family and friends may call 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, with the Rev. Dick Woehr officiating. Interment will be private at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Memorial contributions in Sally’s honor may be made to St. Joseph Pulmonary Rehabilitation, P.O.
