CALAIS – Cole Leroy Bridges, 67, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, in Calais. Cole was born Aug. 11, 1942, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, son of the late Cole and Jessie Helene (Boone) Bridges. He graduated from Calais High School, Class of 1960, and University of Maine, Orono, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. After college, Cole returned home to help run the family businesses, including the local Chrysler dealership, the Shell oil distributor for Washington County, blueberry farms and rental apartments. He retired in 1995. Cole enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid aircraft pilot, flying helicopters, floatplanes and airplanes. Surviving are his two children, Cole Gregory Bridges and his wife, Candy, of Calais, and Ursula Mathieu and her husband, Chris, of Winslow; five grandchildren, Brittney Bridges of Bangor, Cole Tyler, Matthew Bridges, both of Calais, Rochelle and Timothy Mathieu of Winslow; his dear friend, Pamela Bridges; brother, William Bridges and his wife, Joan, of Oak Bay, New Brunswick; sister, Brenda Cook and her husband, Steve, of Menlo Park, Calif.; a niece, Nicole Bridges of Oak Bay, New Brunswick; three nephews, Ryan Bridges and his wife, Carla, of Moores Mills, New Brunswick, Edgar and Vincent Cook, both of California; a great-niece, Hallie Bridges; a cousin, Laird Ketchen of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Ray Morse officiating.
