BANGOR – Earl L. Rice, 52, died unexpectedly, Nov. 9, 2009, at his home. He was born Oct. 17, 1957, in Castine, the son of David Rice and Gloria S. Caulkins. Earl was raised by his mother and stepfather, James E. Nevells. Earl attended school in Hermon. He lived and worked in the Bangor area most of his life. He was an avid NFL and NASCAR fan, and he loved to travel the country visiting his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his uncle, Ernie Caulkins and his family. Earl was a very caring person, always lending a hand when help was needed. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Surviving are one daughter, Michelle Crichton and her husband, Archie, of Fremont, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Kaitlyn Crichton; two brothers, Edward Nevells and his wife, Peggy, of Bradford, and Brian Nevells and his wife, Sarah, of Glenburn; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
