BREWER and SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Glen H. Footman, 52, passed away peacefully Nov. 9, 2009, surrounded by loved ones at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Shock Trauma Center, Baltimore. Glen lost a 14-month-long emotional and courageous battle for life after sustaining life-threatening wounds from a random shooting in Baltimore in September 2008. Glen graduated from Brewer High School in 1975, going on to attend college at Purdue University, Indiana, and the University of Maine, Orono. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Husson College and subsequently became licensed as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor for adolescents in Maine, Texas and Rhode Island. In 1998 Glen received his Master of Arts in pastoral ministry at Oblate School of Theology, San Antonio, Texas. Glen was married in 1979 to Linda Elisabeth Gressman (Nowell) and together they had two children, Nicole Leah and Blaine Jonathan. On Nov. 23, 1996, Glen had the good fortune to meet his soul mate, Alejandro Chavarria, in San Antonio, Texas, and with him developed a relationship that would become his sustaining grace during his last challenging year of physical and emotional struggle. Glen will be remembered by all who knew and loved him for his sense of humor, infectious laugh, engaging smile and truly pure kindness. He has touched many with his unforgettable spirit in his roles as a father, partner, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed. Glen leaves behind his children, Nicole Leah and Blaine Jonathan; his soul mate and devoted partner, Alex Chavarria; his father, H. Rodney Footman; sisters, Marla Collins and her husband, Dwight, and Rhonda Morneault and her partner, Mary Jo Dempsey; brother, Todd Footman; niece, Darci Wardwell; and nephews, Jason Collins and Aaron Morneault. Glen will also be sadly missed and forever remembered by Ruben and Sara Chavarria and family in Laredo, Texas; special friends, Jim Powers, Adele Jones, Alicia and David Satcher, Noel Rodriguez, Frances Sarmiento, Mercy Siemsen and Fred Caputo; and goddaughter, Alina Satcher. He was predeceased in 2002 by his mother, Joyce Tardiff Footman. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor.
