WINTERPORT – Stanley Lufkin Stark, 70, died unexpectedly Nov. 6, 2009. He was born April 9, 1939, in Wilmington, Vt., the son of Frank A. and Ruth (Bowley) Stark. He graduated valedictorian from Encampment High School, Encampment, Wyo. While attending the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyo., he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and graduated in civil engineering in 1961. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft in California and Georgia. Stan joined the Navy and reached the rank of lieutenant junior grade. He worked on oilrigs near Gilette, Wyo., and was an avid sports enthusiast. He is survived by two brothers and three sisters, Jane Stark of Winterport, Theda Turner of Bellevue, Wash., Alfred Stark of Morganton, N.C., Norman Stark of Greenwood Village, Colo., and Susan Swan of Newport, N.H.; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends, who all loved him as the generous soul that he will always remain in our memories.
