DOVER-FOXCROFT – Harriet G. Hintz, formerly of Camillus, N.Y., and Norwalk, Conn., passed away Nov. 13, 2009, at her residence. Harriet was born Sept. 6, 1917, in Greenville, Pa., the daughter of Frank and Cleora (Maybury) Goetsch. She graduated from Penn High School, Greenville, Pa., in 1935, and worked for her father in his grocery store until she married. She married Philip C. Hintz, Christmas Day 1950, and became the loving mother to his two young children by a former marriage, and to their own two children, Donald and Clayton. She was a person who cared for everyone and although confined to a wheelchair for many years by severe arthritis, she was always happy and uncomplaining. She spent many hours writing cards and letters, and greatly enjoyed reading and watching birds. She leaves her husband, Philip C. Hintz of Dover-Foxcroft; their children and their families, David C. Hintz of Syracuse, N.Y., Ann Louise (Hintz) Cohen of Meadville, Pa., Donald E. and Margaret Hintz of New Milford, Conn., and Clayton M. and Helen Mazzone of Topsham; grandchildren, Katharine Hintz, Julie Hintz, Brett Cohen, Drew Cohen, Gregory Hintz and Justin Hintz; and five great-grandchildren. Her brother, Edward Goetsch; and niece, Penny Cooper and her family also survive her. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, in the family lot at Pine Grove Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft, with the Rev. Dr. Dodie Sheffield officiating. Arrangements are in the care of Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
