ST. AGATHA – Joel R. Plourde, 57, passed away Nov. 13, 2009, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough, after an 18-month battle with cancer. Joel was born Feb. 12, 1952, in St. Agatha, son of Noel and Yvonne (Bosse) Plourde. Joel grew up in St. Agatha, attended schools there and graduated in 1971. He was employed by Sullivan Merritt Construction Co. for many years and also worked for several potato farmers in St. Agatha. He was a soft-spoken, quiet, generous man and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His favorite sport was fishing on Long Lake. He was a third degree Knights of Columbus. He is survived by two brothers, Ronald and Conrad Plourde of St. Agatha; two sisters, Lorine (Plourde) Roussin of Saco and Claudette (Plourde) Deschaine of St. Agatha; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Armand; and one sister, Geneva. Friends and relatives may call 6-8 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Valley Church, St. Agatha, with the Rev. Phil Cyr officiating. Burial will be at St. Agatha Lower Cemetery.
