DEXTER – Mildred Hanson, 91, wife of the late Levi R. Hanson, died Nov. 14, 2009, at a Dexter health care facility. She was born March 1, 1918, in Houlton, a daughter of Guy and Ada (Armstrong) Foster. She graduated from Aroostook Central Institute, Class of 1936. After moving to Dexter she was employed for many years in the clerical department of Fay-Scott Landis Machine Shop. She was a past matron and life member of Wassookeag Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Zephyrhills, Fla. Mildred is survived by two sons, Jay and wife, Earlene, of Winslow and Gary and wife, Brenda, of Ripley; a stepdaughter, Joyce and husband, Marvin Jones, of Madison; a sister, Thea and husband, George Stewart, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Joni and husband, David Boissonneault, of Windham, Jon and wife, Jennifer Hanson, of Palmyra, Kathleen and husband, Kevin Cushing, Cindy and husband, James Rose III, all of Hampton, N.H., Jeffrey and wife, Donna Hanson, of Oakland, Michael and wife, Debbie Breen, of Athol, Mass., Stacey and husband, Kevin MacDonald, of East Haddam, Conn., Gregory Corson of Anson and Lisa LeClair of Madison; a niece, Heather Chick; a nephew, Keith Garrison; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Hanson and Geraldine Landry; and several cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte Russell; and a brother, Leland Foster. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley. After the committal service a celebration of life and refreshments will be held at Ripley Grange with the Rev. Frank Twombly of Apollo Beach, Fla., officiating.
