DOVER-FOXCROFT and HERMON – Our mother, Mary (Folsom) McInnis passed away Nov. 14, 2009, in the presence of her four daughters. She was born in Greenville, to Madeline (Brett) and Malcolm B. Folsom. She was fortunate to grow up in an area that offered a myriad of outdoor activities, and she and her many lifelong friends enjoyed skiing, skating, swimming, boating and spending time at Wilson Pond. After graduating from Greenville High School and Becker Business College, mom married her high school sweetheart, Joseph Fred McInnis Jr. They lived in Oklahoma while dad was in the Air Force; she and her first born daughter returned to Greenville after dad was shipped overseas. Mom and dad moved to Bangor in 1955, where they raised their five children. She and dad enjoyed dancing with the “Y-Squares” and traveling to Shrine events; she was an active member of Hammond Street Congregational Church. Mom was a Girl Scout leader, active in the PTA and supported all her children’s activities. In 1974 mom, dad and Danny moved to Dover-Foxcroft, where she was active in various clubs and activities, including Women’s Fellowship, Junior Cosmopolitan Club, volunteer work at Mayo Hospital, swimming, gardening and cross-country skiing. Mom particularly enjoyed spending time with family at her Wilson Pond camp in Greenville, where she was always the first to initiate a game of badminton, cards or a dip in the pond. Family trips to California, Mexico, Florida and the Bahamas were special highlights. She was proud of her grandchildren and attended many of their school and sports activities. Mom and dad were active members of Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church until they moved to be closer to their family. She is survived by her four daughters, Nancy and Dudley Houghton and their children and grandchildren, Stephanie and Jason Terry, Andrew and Jackson, Paula and Chris Page, Alyssa, Maddie and Grace, Jeff and Suzie Houghton, and Abby and Julia; Barbara McInnis and Stephen Rouse and her children, Tim and Elizabeth; Janet McInnis and Richard Goodman and their daughter and grandchildren, Julie and Eric Schmidt, and Benjamin and Addison; and Madeline and Stephen Currier and their daughters and grandchildren, Liane and Igor Ivno and Maksim and Maria, and Laura and Wilson Wimmer and Dean and Dani. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret McInnis; very special friend, Bernice Canders; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant son, James; husband, Joseph in 2004; son, Daniel B. in 1976; and her brothers, Richard and Max Folsom. In keeping with her wishes, services are private. She will be dearly missed.
