DANBURY, Conn., and OAKFIELD – Roland “Neal” Kinney Jr., 86, formerly of Danbury, Conn., beloved husband of Ann “Nancy” Kinney, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at The Villages at Brookfield Commons. Mr. Kinney was born June 3, 1923, in Oakfield. He graduated from Oakfield High School and Becker College. He was formerly employed with Sperry Rail Service, a trustee for Beaver Brook Volunteer Fire Company, a lifetime member of Danbury Fish and Game Association and a member of the American Legion of Maine. Mr. Kinney as also a veteran of World War II and served three years in the Air Force with one and a half years in Africa. He moved from Maine to Danbury, Conn., in 1951. He is survived by four children, Barbara King and her husband, Jeffrey, of Bainbridge Island, Wash., Ellen Brangwynne of San Jose Adentro, Dominican Republic, Joan Ciferri and her husband, Ernie, of Boca Raton, Fla., and David Kinney and his wife, Kare, of The Woodlands, Texas; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Helen “Peggy” Griffin of Largo, Fla., and Lois Kennedy of Fort Wayne, Ind.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joanne Desmond. Memorial services were held at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, Conn. An additional service will be held in the summer in Oakfield.
