The Mount Desert Island YMCA Rhythmic Gymnastics Team is offering “Early Bird Babysitting” for shopping parents of children 3-9 from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the MDI YMCA, 21 Park St., Bar Harbor.

Trisha Cantwell Keene reports the cost is $10 a child, and proceeds will help with the team’s meet fees and travel expenses.

Keene said the event includes a continental breakfast, craft activities, sports, games and stories.

The Penobscot Indian Nation-Department of Cultural and Historic Preservation, the Penobscot Nation Housing Department and nonprofit Gedakina present Native American poet-activist John Trudell as host for a screening of his documentary film about his life and work.

The film, “A Native Prophet of these Times,” begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Community Center on Indian Island.
