MADAWASKA – Aurella “Rella” Paradis, 76, passed away Nov. 20, 2009, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Rella was born Sept. 16, 1933, in Madawaska, daughter of Paul and Marie Dubois. Rella is survived by her husband of 55 years; their daughter, Karen of Waterboro; their son, Mike and his wife, Sue; and two grandchildren, Erin and Curtis of Biddeford. Rella is also survived by her nine brothers and sisters, Bernice of Van Buren, Blanche of Madawaska, Louis and wife, Adrienne, of Madawaska, Albe and wife, Rachel, of Madawaska, Gerald and wife, Rose, of St. Agatha, Eunice and husband, Ron, of St. Agatha, Rita and husband, Bert, of Madawaska, Bob and wife, Odette, of Cross Lake, and Jeanne and husband, Camille, of Newington, Conn. Rella was educated in the Madawaska school system and graduated from Madawaska High School in 1951. Rella attended Madawaska Normal School and received her degree from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Rella taught in Madawaska for 33 years before retiring in 1988. After Howard retired they spent their winters in Tucson, Ariz., as snowbirds, made many friends and loved to play cards with the other snowbirds by the pool. Rella and Howard were able to visit the lower 48 states and Hawaii. Rella led a very full life. Rella loved and was most proud of her children and grandchildren. She loved the summers that Erin and Curtis spend with their Memere in Madawaska, especially their annual trip to St. Anne De Beaupre and Quebec City. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at St. Thomas Church, Madawaska, by Father Richard Ouellette. In keeping with Rella’s wishes, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Hospice of Aroostook will greatly be appreciated. Funeral arrangement will be by Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha.
