OKEECHOBEE, Fla. – Ethel Mae Surles, 79, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2009. Born Oct. 27, 1930, in Waltham, she had been a resident of Okeechobee, Fla., for the past 15 years. She was predeceased by her husbands, Raymond Grindle and John Surles; son, Ross Grindle; daughter, Celeste Cote; sisters, Beulah Herbest and Mary Wilbur; and brother, Newell Hardison Jr. She is survived by her son, Raymond Grindle of Aurora; daughters, Cheryle Dyer of Trenton, Candyce Wilbur and husband, Allen, of Eastbrook, Cathye Folsum of Okeechobee, Fla.; grandchildren, Kimberly, Christie, Jamie, Karessa, MacKenzie, Chris, John, Tara, Tim, Misty, Shane, Jerimy, Danielle, Paul and Scott; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Hardison; sister, Lucille Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
