BREWER – Christine DiPompo, 88, died Nov. 25, 2009, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. She was born April 5, 1921, in Philadelphia, daughter of Charles and Mary (Bard) Ermentrout. Christine served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II, raised her family in Corinna and was an elementary teacher in Palmyra and Corinna for 25 years. She was an active member and catechism teacher at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, a member of the Maine Retired Teachers and the Maine Veterans’ Association. She was also a dedicated volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital for 20 years, where she was a recipient of the Blessed Mary Angela Service Award. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Louis DiPompo. She is survived by her sons, Charles and Jeanette, and Raymond and Carey; daughters, Cheryl and James White, and Mary and Kaare Mathiasson; grandchildren, Nathan, Caitlyn, Annika, Joseph and Minna; and brother, George Ermentrout and Bobbi. Family and friends may visit 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Brewer. Burial with military honors will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Livermore Falls.
