HERMON – Constance Vivian (Gallupe) Holling, 93, passed away Nov. 28, 2009, in the care of her family at home. She was born May 26, 1916, in Bangor, the daughter of Murray D. and Vivian I. (Barchard) Gallupe. Connie graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1934. She married Jack B. Holling, Aug. 9, 1945. Connie enjoyed her career as a librarian, which started by assisting at Bangor Public Library. She later worked in reference at Bradley University, Peoria, Ill., and then was the director of Brewer Public Library from 1958 to 1992. She was a member of the Maine Library Association. Connie’s love of books and helping people was displayed in her 37 years of library service. She had a rich family heritage and love of genealogy. She took great pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss her dearly. Surviving are one daughter, Linda (Holling) Jellison and her husband, R. Scott Jellison; grandchildren, Amy (Jellison) Millett and her husband, Jeffrey, Candace (Jellison) Parker and her husband, Shenon, and Aaron Jellison; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Gallupe and his wife, Patricia, Robert Gallupe and his wife, Irmgard, and Richard Gallupe and his wife, Kathleen; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack; brothers, Arthur and Clifford Gallupe; and sisters, Virginia Thurston and Helen McLaughlin. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Mount Hope Cemetery, State Street, Bangor, with the Rev. Kirk Winters officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to meet 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Superintendents Lodge, State Street entrance.
