PLYMOUTH – Ethel M. Russell, 86, died peacefully Dec. 6, 2009, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor, after a period of declining health. She was born in Valhalla, N.Y., the daughter of Joseph P. and Florence (Pindt) Williams. She graduated from high school in Pleasantville, N.Y. Ethel was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a hospital medic in Maryland, where she met and married her husband of 25 years, George Russell. Ethel was an administrative assistant in Scarsdale (N.Y.) schools for 10 years. She owned and operated Russell Farms Produce Center, Woburn, Mass., and she was an administrative assistant at Greater Boston YMCA, Woburn, Mass. After her retirement she moved to Plymouth to be with her grandchildren. She was employed at Plymouth Post Office for several years. In her later years, Ethel enjoyed reading and listening to music. She was Boston Red Sox and a Boston Celtics fan and loved listening to their games. She is survived by her daughter, Candice F. Russell of Plymouth; her two sons and their wives, David and Pamela Russell of Parkman, and Barry and Donna Russell of Parkman; two sisters, Margaret Crawford of Kansas and Marion Nemeth of New Jersey; seven grandchildren, Jessica Russell and fiance, Tyger Kime, Sean Russell and his wife, Keriann, Seth Russell, Bryce Doody and fiancee, Amanda Adolphson, Larissa Russell, Tyler Russell, and Emma Nelson and significant other, Christopher Shea. She will also be remembered by her helper of 14 years, Debbie Randall. Ethel was predeceased by her husband; two brothers; and a grandson, Elias Russell. The family thanks the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor, for the wonderful care and concern. At Ethel’s request, there are no services at this time.
