LOWELL – Phillip C. Harding, 60, husband of Lora (Shorey) Michaud Harding, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 6, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 24, 1949, in Palmyra, the son of Lionel and Sylvia (Fields) Harding. Phillip was drafted for two years shortly after finishing high school and served with the 1st Infantry Division of the Fifth Army at Fort Riley, Kan. He served as a sergeant in Vietnam, where he was combat wounded twice and received the Purple Heart as well as other service medals. After returning home, he went to work for Lincoln Pulp & Paper, where he worked for nearly 40 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. In addition to his wife Lora, he is survived by his stepmother, Marie Harding; three children, Jeff Michaud and his wife, Rhonda, of Enfield, Joel Michaud of Burlington, and Andrew Harding and his wife, Renee, of Howland; five grandchildren, Christy and her husband, Greg Sarnacki, Jered Michaud, Brady, Laney and Colin Harding; a great-grandchild, Chloe Sarnacki; five brothers, Charlie and his wife, Maryann, Frank, Richard, Don and his wife, Beverly, and Gary and his wife, Cindy; sisters-in-law, Lill Thomas, Nonie and her husband, Charlie Priest, and Hope Colby; brothers-in-law, Orland Shorey and his wife, Suzann, Chub Shorey and his wife, Glenda, and Bud Smith; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father. There will be no funeral service, but a celebration of his life will be held 3-5 p.m. Dec. 10 at VFW Hall, Burlington.
