LINCOLN – Sandra J. Beck, 66, beloved wife of Fred A. Beck, passed away Dec. 6, 2009, at her home, after an illness of several months. She was born Oct. 10, 1943, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Wilfred and Edwina Atkins of Portage. She graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1961, and attended Husson College, Bangor. She married Fred Beck, July 27, 1968, in Presque Isle, and they lived in Georgia while he was in the Army. After Fred left the service, they lived in Presque Isle and Fort Kent. Sandy worked part of that time at Maine Public Service. In 1980 they moved with sons, Ryan and Robby to Hampden, later living in Brewer and Veazie. Sandy was involved in volunteering at local hospitals. She enjoyed bird hunting and the camp on Fish Lake. As the daughter of one of Maine’s first warden pilots, she was happy to be up in a small plane from a very young age. She and Fred were very active in Maine Civil Air Patrol in the Bangor area. Sandy’s career included security work and services as a licensed private investigator. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Fred Beck of Lincoln; her son, Ryan Beck and his girlfriend, Celeste, of Bangor; her granddaughter, Autumn Beck of Bangor; her niece, Pam Clarke of Virginia; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Robby Beck, in 1992; her parents; and her sister, Patsy Crane. A burial service will be held in the spring at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
