MAPLETON – Rhoda M. Wells, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at her residence. She was born Jan. 8, 1922, in Castle Hill, the daughter of William A. and Phoebe (Hovey) Fisher. Rhoda was a past member of Order of the Eastern Star, Washburn; Pythian Sisters of Mapleton; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary; and Senior Citizens of Mapleton. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, collecting figurines, as well as cooking for the senior citizens. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by three sons, John Wells Jr. and his wife, Eva, of Presque Isle, Charles W. Wells and his wife, Helen, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Kenneth W. Wells and his wife, Sandra, of Presque Isle; a sister, Rebecca Sargefield of Hartland, New Brunswick; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John F. Wells Sr.; a son, Wendell Franklin Wells; and five brothers, Charles, Jesse James, Ralph, Harvey and Walter. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Phelps officiating.
