FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Sarah Elizabeth Levesque, 74, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Fort Walton Beach (Fla.) Medical Center. Sarah fought a brave and courageous battle with cancer for more than four years. Sarah was born June 6, 1935, in Belfast, a daughter of the late Clyde Allen Closson and Evelyn Irene Trundy. Sarah was a dedicated member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Choctawhatchee Bay Chapter. In addition to having served as her chapter’s regent, she held many offices and was a valuable member of multiple committees. In recognition for all her dedication, the Choctawhatchee Bay Chapter awarded her with the title, Honorary Chapter Regent for Life. Sarah was also an active member at the national and state levels. She accomplished her goal of becoming the Florida state society chaplain and also chaired committees at the state level. At the national level, she worked on the congressional committee and attended the continental congress for seven years. In addition, Sarah was the senior president of Fort Walton’s Children of the American Revolution, Snowden-Horne Chapter. Sarah was also a dedicated member of American Colonist Don Tristan de Luna Chapter. She held the position of the chapter regent and other offices and at Florida State Society Daughters of the American Colonist. Survivors include her devoted husband of 56 years, Oscar Donald “Don” Levesque of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; one son, Clyde Allen Levesque of Seattle; one daughter, Donna Levesque Branson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and five grandsons, Jesse, Nicholas, Joshua, Jeremiah and Donnie. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, in the chapel of Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Road, NE, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., with the Rev. Joyce W. Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends noon-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
