CHARLESTON – Joanne O. True, 61, wife of the late Roger True, died Dec. 14, 2009, at a Bangor hospital after an extended illness. She was born April 2, 1948, in Bangor, the daughter of James and Marion (Boyer) King. She was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute, Charleston, Class of 1967, and was a member of Charleston United Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she served as church secretary. She had been a seasonal employee of Crane Brother’s Potato Farm for many years and also had worked at Pleasant Meadows Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft, as well as opening her home to individuals as their caregiver. Joanne loved gardening, watching birds and caring for her grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Brian Ireland of Hartland, Renee Tash and her husband, Tom, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Daniel Ireland of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Meagan, Jessica, Heather and Angela Ireland, all of Bangor, Trevor Tash, and Spencer and Jacob Ireland, all of Dover-Foxcroft; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Alexis; a sister, Janice King of Charleston; a godchild, Tabitha Morin; many, many special friends and relatives, including Bridgett and Debbie Ireland, who held a very special place in Joanne’s heart. Joanne was predeceased by her granddaughter, Courtney Tash. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Charleston United Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Booker officiating. Spring burial will be at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth.
