GREENBUSH – Edward F. Holman, 67, passed away Dec. 14, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 3, 1942, the son of George and Evon (Langille) Holman. For 34 years, Edward worked for Maine State Forest Service where he was promoted through the ranks, starting as a tower watchman and working his way to a forest ranger. Before retiring in 1994, Edward had many accomplishments that he was proud of, including being a southern region pump specialist and a founding member of Waldo County Firefighter Association. As a forest ranger for Waldo County, Edward was responsible for 24 different towns and he also represented the state of Maine three different times helping to fight wild fires in Montana and California. In 1989, he graduated from Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Edward had been a member of Star in the East Lodge No. 60, AF & AM since Jan. 10, 1966, and was presently president of Northern Penobscot chapter of Maine State Retirees Association. He was very determined with everything that he believed in. Edward had a great love and appreciation for the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting and had even taken two trips to Canada to hunt caribou. He was a true friend and loved his family very much. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bonny Lee (Emerson) Holman; his daughter, Kim Holman Frost and her children, Kyle and Graham, of Augusta; his son, Richard Holman and his children, Lake and Summer, of Southern Pines, N.C.; his two sisters, Nancy Buxton of Greenbush, and Evonne Melville of Pennsylvania; and his brother, Roy Holman of South Dakota. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and many extended family members and friends. Edward was predeceased by his parents. In keeping with Ed’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. The family will be organizing a private ceremony for a later date. For those that would like to remember Ed in a special way, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to your local volunteer fire department.
