HARRINGTON – Mary B. (Nash) Looke, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep Dec. 15, 2009, at Grace Home, Harrington. Mary was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Addison, to the late James and Miranda (Crowley) Nash. Mary ventured briefly out of Maine after graduation from Addison High School, but soon returned home to things she loved. She enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage with her beloved Stan, farming with him, raising prize strawberries, vegetables and chickens. She loved her children and grandchildren, and the simple ways of life. Mary enjoyed reading, holidays, and her work in sardine factories and clam shops. All who knew her saw her as a very sweet person. She is survived by her son, Ronald and his wife, Connie, of Addison; her daughter, Sharon and her husband, Maurice “Smitty” Smith, of Holden; grandchildren, Larry Looke and friend, Jill Kennedy, Melissa Carver and husband, Dean, Stacy Smith, and Sherry Desmarais and husband, Darius; and eight great-grandchildren, Candice and Carlye Looke, Bradley, Ashley and Haley Carver, and Adriena, Kyla and Braydon Desmarais. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Farren and Patricia Nash. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley D. Looke; a half sister, Frances (Norton) Clifford; a half brother, William Crowley; and brothers, Clayton and Morey Nash. In lieu of the graveside service, Mary desired, and because of anticipated inclement weather, final prayers and fellowship will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Union Church, South Addison. Mary received much loving care at Grace Home.
