EAST HARTFORD, Conn. – Clairette “Claire” M. (Poitraw) Hebert, 72, loving wife of 41 years to the late Kenneth O. Hebert, peacefully entered into eternal life Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, Conn. Born June 1, 1937, in Presque Isle, a daughter of the late Andrew and Cecila (O’Clair) Poitraw, she had resided in East Hartford, Conn., for the past 44 years. Clairette was a graduate of Ashland Community High School, Class of 1955, Ashland. Prior to her retirement, Clairette was employed as an insurance agent for 45 years by several area insurance agencies, retiring in 2001 from Blumberg Associates, Inc., West Hartford, Conn. Clairette was a former member of Aetna Women’s Club and a faithful communicant of several Catholic churches in the East Hartford, Conn., area. Claire was an avid fan of Hartford Whalers and Hartford Wolf Pack hockey teams and was a member of Hartford Whalers Booster Club. Claire was also a longtime loyal and dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox. For the past eight years, Claire volunteered more than 6,022 hours of her time at Rocky Hill Veteran’s Counseling Center, where she received great joy in assisting our state of Connecticut veterans. In her free time, Claire enjoyed going camping, square dancing, and gardening around her home, especially flowers. Clairette is survived by her caring son, Kevin K. Hebert of East Hartford, Conn.; a stepson, Kurt Hebert and his wife, Cathy, of Rincon, Ga.; a brother, Roland Poitraw and his wife, Jean, of Ashland; two sisters, Dorothy Poitraw and Ellen Boulier, both of Ashland; her dear best friend, Gale C. Cyr of Bristol, Conn., who was like a third sister to Claire; a grandson, Tim Hebert of Florida; granddaughter, Tammy Johnston of Georgia; great-grandson, Zachary Johnston; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Hebert; Gale Cyr’s children, William C. Cyr of East Hartford, Conn., Carla Squire of Bristol, Conn., and Cathy Archambault of Bristol, Conn.; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. Relatives and friends may call 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at D’Esopo-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford, Conn., where a funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Cambridge Drive, East Hartford, Conn. Burial will be at Silver Lane Cemetery, East Hartford, Conn.
