DOVER-FOXCROFT – George D. Smith, 74, husband of Ruth (Cuttone) Smith, died Dec. 19, 2009, at a local nursing home. He was born April 2, 1935, in Newark, N.J., the son of George D. and Agnes (Christie) Smith. George served his country with the U.S. Army. He was a well-known carpenter and contractor in the area. Even after his retirement, he enjoyed working with his son, Brian. He also enjoyed spending time at camp, playing his guitar and spending time with his grandchildren. George was predeceased by a son, Daniel. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Dover-Foxcroft; his children, Brian and his wife, Laurie and their children, Ashley and Morgan, all of Dover-Foxcroft, Geralynn and her husband, Barry and their children, Matthew, Dylan and Jacob, all of Brunswick, Bonnie and her husband, Mike and their children, Emalee and Erin, all of Gorham, and Tim and his wife, Karen and their children, Anthony, Allison and Julia, all of Dover-Foxcroft; and Dan’s son, Michael George of Newark, Del. Friends are invited to visit and share memories 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Brian’s house, 165 Park St., Dover-Foxcroft. Spring burial will be in the family lot at Dover Cemetery.
