GRINDSTONE and MILLINOCKET – George Wayne Tapley Sr., 72, passed away Dec. 18, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1937, the youngest child of Spurgeon and Clara (Babcock) Tapley. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joanne (Daisey) Tapley; three sons, Jerry Tapley and his wife, Denise, of Sher-man, George Tapley Jr. and Charles Tapley of Millinocket; two daughters, Katherine Pineau and her husband, Rick, of Millinocket and Karen Ethier and her husband, John, of Old Town; a brother, Charles S. Tapley; a sister, Marge Michaud, both of Millinocket; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by brothers, Philip, Russell, James and Earl; and sisters, Pauline Miller, Irene Yost and Mable Farquhar.
