FRENCHVILLE and FORT KENT – Diane (Levesque) Plourde, 57, died peacefully Dec. 23, 2009, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 28, 1951, in Blue River, Canada, the daughter of David and Annette (Soucy) Levesque. Diane was a member of Ladies of St. Anne and the Columbiettes, both of Fort Kent. She was very proud of being the first French reader during Sunday Masses at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Her favorite pastime was spending time in her garden. She loved flowers and painting. She also loved making prayer shawls, which were blessed and sent to people that were ill all over the country. She worked as a certified nurse’s assistant at Northern Maine Medical Center for many years. Diane is survived by five children, Nathalie and her husband, Medel Felipe, of Roy, Utah, Pierre Plourde of Eagle Lake, Pascal, Bruce and Richard Plourde, all of Fort Kent; nine grandchildren, Johnathan, Daniel, James “DJ,” Stephan, Andre “AJ,” Christian, Alejandro, Callie and Aries; 12 brothers and sisters, Aline Levesque of Florida, Noella Ouelet of Montreal, Jacqueline Grondin of Beauce, Quebec, Priscille Ouellette and Lucille Levesque, both of Montreal, Jacques Levesque of Rivisre-du-Loup, Quebec, Jean-Guy Levesque of Texas, Rejian Levesque of New Hampshire, George Levesque of Connecticut, Joseph Levesque of Fort Kent, Linda Plourde of Connecticut and Paul Levesque of Caribou; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel Plourde in 2002. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday until time of service at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Spring burial will be held May 18, 2010, at the parish cemetery.
