BANGOR – Donald M. Lambert Sr., 73, died Dec. 25, 2009, at a Bangor health care center. He was born in 1936, in Brewer, the son of Calvin T. and Beatrice E. (Peters) Lambert. Donald was one of eight children. He was a graduate of Hermon High School, worked for the Bangor Auditorium in maintenance and was self-employed for many years as a roofing contractor. He coached Little League Baseball for Bangor West and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, trapping, clamming and camping. He participated in arm wrestling tournaments at the Bangor State Fair beating many that were much younger. Donald also liked playing poker and cribbage. He was a sports fan of New England teams including the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics. Donald was the survivor of a plane crash where his pilot and trapping partner died. Surviving are four children, Marvin, Larry and Donald Lambert Jr., all of Bangor, and Dawn West of Levant; his “honorary daughter,” Jill Reid, of Bangor who was his devoted caregiver; his former wife, Winifred Lambert of Bangor; 10 grandchildren, Sophia Lambert, Shannon “Skunk” Gutierrez, Airman Shelly Jenkins and her fiance, Allen Rediker, Seth Jenkins, Kristin Brown, Ryan and Brittini Smith, Joshua, Justin and Nichole Masters; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene “Gene” Lambert and his wife, Beverly, of Ellsworth; one sister, Beatrice “Sis” Poliquin of New Hampshire; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Agnes “Aggie” Williams, Calvin “Boo” Lambert, David “Bud” Lambert, Albert “Babe” Lambert and Juanita McLaughlin; and a grandchild, Jessica Lambert. He will be missed by his longtime friends, Trevor Simpson and Jimmy Kidder. Family and friends are invited to visit 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where a service honoring his life will begin 7 p.m. with Pastor Barry Buzzell, presiding.
