SEAL COVE and BAR HARBOR – Frances G. Reed, 92, died Dec. 25, 2009, at a Mount Desert Island hospital with her family by her side, after a long illness. She was born March 24, 1917, in Bass Harbor, the daughter of Frank and Lucy (Mitchell) Gott. Frances worked many years in Northeast Harbor, cleaning many of the large summer estates. She then worked for Stinson Canning Co. for a few years. She enjoyed cooking very much especially bread, biscuits and pies. Frances also loved to make fudge and give it to her friends and neighbors. Frances is survived by her loving and loyal husband of 69 years, Percy T. Reed. In June they would have had their 70th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her only child, Brenda Bartlett and husband, Charles, of whom she was very fond of. She has three grandchildren, Duane Bartlett and wife, Robin, of Trenton, Christopher Bartlett and wife, Tracy, of Newport, N.H., and Matthew Bartlett and wife, Lori, of Bar Harbor. She was so proud of the grandsons and the 12 great-grandchildren, one great-greatgrandson and looking forward to the newest family member which is due in June; a sister, Ida Richards of Hancock; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Juanita Stanley, Ned Finney and wife, Leigh and all the Finney family. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Brookside Cemetery, Mount Desert.
