HUDSON – Harvey E. Blanchard, 77, a lifelong resident of Hudson, passed away early Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Sept. 12, 1932, in Hudson, the son of Clinton and Mary (Jones) Blanchard. Harvey volunteered for the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean War. He later worked in various mills in the area, but his true calling was working in the woods. Everybody knew Harvey; he was the fellow who gave up driving and took to riding his lawnmower up to Roger’s Market everyday to visit his friends. Harvey is survived by two sisters, Mabel Nichols of Glenburn and Beverly White of Oakland; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Frances; and brothers, Richard, James and Arthur. Numerous close friends will always remember Harvey. He will also be fondly remembered by his “family” at the Bangor Maine Veterans’ Home, where he received the absolute finest of loving care during the last few years. We cannot say enough about all they did for him. Graveside memorial services will be held at Pushaw Cemetery, Hudson, in the spring. It would be Harvey’s wish that contributions in his memory be made to the Maine Veterans’ Home, 44 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME 04401 or to Ronald McDonald House Inc., 654 State St., Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are by Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth. Please visit www.ThompsonFuneralHomes.org.
