WINDHAM – James Edward Mahany, 45, of River Road, died unexpectedly Dec. 31, 2009, at his home. Born in Fort Fairfield, he was a son of Gerald L. and Lauretta I. Kelley Mahany. James was a 1983 graduate of Easton High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Since 1985 he had been a painting contractor in Windham. James was a NASCAR fan. He touched many peoples’ lives, had many special friends and was a loving brother. Surviving him are a brother, John L. Mahany and wife, Gabriella, of New Braunfels, Texas; five sisters, Carla Leathem and husband, Bill, of Hampden, Kathy Cole and husband, David, of Gorham, Mary Schwartz and husband, Michael, of Windham, Carol Mahany and husband, Robert Friedrich, of Carrabassett Valley and Judy Mahany-Webber and husband, Darren, of Buxton; an uncle, Neal Kelley and wife, Marlene, of Presque Isle; his aunts, Barbara Mahany and Carolyne Mahany, both of Easton, Lena Leavitt of Surry and Brenda McAllister of Milwaukie, Ore.; several nieces and nephews. An hour of visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. Funeral prayers will be said 11 a.m. at the chapel with the Rev. Brian Blanchette officiating. The family suggests you remember James by contributing in his memory to the charity of your choice.
