BANGOR – William Attwood Walters, 77, died Jan. 4, 2010, at a Brewer health care facility. He was born Jan. 24, 1932, in West Palm Beach, Fla., the son of William R. and Alice E. (Attwood) Walters. William operated his own gas supply business in North Carolina for many years. He taught gas operation at a collage in Colorado for several years. William then moved to Bangor and worked for Dead River for several years. He was a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 542 AF & AM of Greensboro, N.C., and Anah Shrine. William was also a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Brewer, and Elks Lodge No. 244, Bangor. He is survived by his dear wife, Geneva (Dubay) Walters of Bangor; a son, William J. Walters and wife, Janet; and his grandchildren, Billy and Kim Walters, all of Virginia; three stepchildren, Sherry Haller and husband, Roger, of Hermon, Ronald Michaud and wife, Sonya of Eddington, and Scott Michaud of Bradley; five stepgrandchildren, Robert, Ronald, Corey and Tyler Michaud, and Megan Haller; a special friend, Carol Miller; loving neighbors, Sharon and Tony White; and many friends. A gathering of remembrance will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Brookings-Smith, Family Reception Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
